This is the Los Angeles Rare Bird Alert for Thursday, July 8.
A small number of BRANT continue at Malibu Lagoon, being last reported on July
7.
Three WHITE-FACED IBIS were along the lower LA River on July 7 near the
Rosecrans crossing in Paramount.
The AMERICAN OYSTERCATCHER at Golden Shore Reserve in Long Beach was reported
through July 3. The bird has usually been west across the river from the Marine
Reserve but has also been seen in the small inlet/estuary adjacent to the
reserve parking area (metered). The entrance to the Marine Reserve is on Golden
Shore off Ocean Ave.
Four SAY’S PHOEBES and an adult and juvenile HORNED LARK were at Santa Fe Dam in
Irwinwale on July 2. Both of these reports suggest possible local breeding.
