The SOOTY TERN was reported through the 5th at Bolsa Chica Preserve. When
found, it was by the wooden blind on the breeding island for terns. Either
people saw if from the bike path of PCH, or they (less frequently) scoped it
from the boardwalk.

On the 6th at Bolsa a YELLOW-BILLED CUCKOO was sighted. There is an
agricultural field to the west of Graham Street, on the north side of
Wintersburg channel. At the far northwest end of the field is a grove of
eucalyptus trees with a pipeline running through it. The bird was sitting in
the eucs or foraging closer to the ground about a hundred yards on either
side of the pipeline. Best access to this area is likely from the end of
Bolsa Chica Street.

At Huntington Central Park an adult male ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAK was in eucs
south of the Jack Green Nature Area and NE of the Park Bench Cafe.

Last Sunday a pair of GOLDEN EAGLES were over O'Neil Regional Park.

On the 1st a LEAST BITTERN was at Laguna Niguel Regional Park south of the
bridge spanning the creek feeding the lake. Another Least Bittern was
reported on the 7th from San Joaquin Wildlife Sanctuary.
