This is the Santa Barbara County rare bird report being posted on Monday,
May 17, 2010 at 7:30 p.m.  If you have a rare bird sighting to report,
please post it to sbcobirding@yahoogroups.com.  The rare bird alert number
for Santa Barbara is no longer in service.

One or two BANK SWALLOWS were seen this afternoon over Area K at UCSB.

Migrating BLACK SWIFTS have been seen in several locations.  The upper end
of San Marcos Road (below Highway 154) is a particularly good spot.

GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GEESE were seen at the Andres Clark Bird Refuge and at
Devereux Slough.

PURPLE MARTINS are back at Nojoqui Falls County Park and at a couple of
other sites along Alisal Road in Solvang.

YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRDS have been seen in Goleta in the vicinity of El
Colegio and Mesa Roads.
