Welcome to the Arkansas Rare Bird Alert for July 15, 2010, sponsored by the 
Audubon Society of Central Arkansas (ASCA).  ASCA meets at 7:00pm the second 
Thursday of each month. The next field trip will be Saturday, July 17, to 
Arkansas Post.  Check the www.ascabird.org website for details on upcoming 
meetings and field trips.   
 
From around the state recent sightings are:
 
 
At Bald Knob NWR Willets, Least Terns, and a Forster's Tern have been seen.  
Out-of-season birds being seen on the refuge include Snow Goose, Northern 
Shoveler, Northern Pintail, and Green-winged Teal.  A Mottled Duck was found 
across the road from the grain bins and farther west, in the middle of a rice 
field.
In Prairie County, at Treadway's Fish Farm, Forster's and Black Terns are 
present.  Among several hundred shorebirds, a Piping Plover and an early 
KSST
in the database. It too, was seen on July 10 but it was in 1999.)
