The weather in Southern Manitoba has been abnormally warm for a couple
of weeks with numerous temperature records broken.  Much of the snow has
disappeared and South winds on Feb. 27 were accompanied by early
migrants.

Canada geese started showing up in Winnipeg 28 February. There are now
dozens at Fort Whyte.
Bald eagle - 2 seen migrating at St Adolphe 28 February
Rough-legged hawk - 9 seen migrating at St Adolphe 28 February, 1 at New
Bothwell
Peregrine falcon - 1 at the University of Manitoba 28 February, possibly
a migrant
Short-eared owl - 1 at Oak Hammock Marsh, 28 February
Northern hawk owl - 1 on Maple Creek Rd., NW of Lac du Bonnet and 1 on
Stead Rd. N. of Stead, 27 February
Northern saw-whet owl - 1 heard at Birds Hill Park 27 February
Horned lark - these have been showing up for a couple of weeks
American crow - although some overwintered, migrating crows are being
seen now
N. cardinal - continues at St Adolphe, last seen 27 February
Common Grackle - 2 continue at St Adolphe, last seen 27 February
White-throated sparrow - continues at Birds Hill Park, last seen 27
February
White-crowned sparrow - continues at St Adolphe, last seen 27 February
American tree sparrow - 1 at St Adolphe, 29 February
