You have reached the Cape May Birding Hotline, a service of New Jersey
Audubon Society’s Cape May Bird Observatory.  This week’s message was  
prepared on Friday May 11, 2007.  Highlights this week include  
sightings of CURLEW SANDPIPER, NELSON’S SHARP-TAILED SPARROW, BLACK- 
NECKED STILT, RED-HEADED WOODPECKER and GREAT CORMORANT.

Good luck to all the World Series of Birding Teams.  Please drive  
safe and have a good time.

The dull female CURLEW SANDPIPER continues to be seen as of 5/11, at  
the Heislerville impoundments.  A bright male CURLEW SANDPIPER was  
found at Forsythe NWR along with several WHITE-RUMPED SANDPIPERS on  
5/10.

NELSONS SHARP-TAILED SPARROW has been seen near the parking are at  
the end of Jake’s Landing Rd.  The last report of this species was  
this morning, 5/11.

Two BLACK-NECKED STILTS were found on 5/9 near the Robbinstown Rd.  
access point to the Bivalve area.  Two more BLACK-NECKED STILTS were  
found at the Heislerville impoundments on 5/10.

The RED-HEADED WOODPECKER toward the end of New England Rd. just east  
of Higbee’s Beach WMA continues as of this morning, 5/11.

A GREAT CORMORANT has been frequenting the Hereford Inlet area.  The  
last report of this bird was on 5/9.

Research and Education on Rt. 47 in Goshen is open Tuesday- Sunday  
9:00- 4:30.
