Welcome to Pennsylvania Audubon's and the Patriot-News' Birdline. This
Birdline covers sightings made primarily during the week prior to
Thursday, July 10, 2007.
DAUPHIN COUNTY:
YELLOW-CROWNED NIGHT HERONS were seen in Harrisburg on May 9 (CK, DHo).
JUNIATA COUNTY:
A CLAY-COLORED SPARROW was at the Amos Renno farm near Van Wert between
July 5 and 9 (CK, AR, AT, DH). Directions: On the Cedar Spring Road
SR2006, you turn south at Van Wert on SR2007, go past the greenhouse,
take the next left by the Amish school house on T447. The first farm on
the left is Amos Renno, if you follow his fence on the left, you come to
2 blue bird houses and the fence that runs perpendicular with the road
is where the sparrow has been perching and singing. It sometimes flies
into the cornfield past the fencing. You can park by his home/barn, but
try not to block his driveway. You can park along the road near the
fencing, as it is a quiet road, but try to get off of it as far as you
can (CK).
MONTOUR COUNTY:
There was a late report of WESTERN KINGBIRD being found and photographed
on private property in Milton on July 1 (LS).
NORTHUMBERLAND COUNTY:
A WESTERN KINGBIRD was found near the intersection of T373 and SR3010
west of Line Mountain on July 3 (JF).
A BARN OWL was observed near Rebuck on July 3 (JF).

whenever possible and sent to PORC for review. Send PORC reports to Nick
Pulcinella, 613 Howard Road, West Chester, PA 19380.
The following people have contributed to this birdline: John Fedak (JF),
Dan Hinnebusch (DH), Deuane Hoffman (DHo), Chad Kauffman (CK), Andy
Renno (AR), Lauri Shaffer (LS) and Aden Troyer (AT). I apologize if I
have misspelled their names and I will also refrain from naming that
person on request.
