Welcome to Pennsylvania Audubon's and the Patriot-News' Birdline. This Birdline
covers sightings made primarily during the week prior to Thursday, February 18,
2010.

ADAMS COUNTY:
A winter raptor survey run on February 13 located 4 BLACK VULTURES, 13 TURKEY
VULTURES, 3 RED-TAILED HAWKS and 2 AMERICAN KESTRELS (PK).

CENTRE COUNTY:
There were 5 AMERICAN PIPITS near Tusseyville at Airport, Geary and Williams
Roads on February 14 (JV, JD).

A winter raptor survey conducted on February 14 in the Pleasant Gap/Zion area
yielded 10 RED-TAILED HAWKS and 1 AMERICAN KESTREL (JL, LD, RF).

CUMBERLAND COUNTY:
A LAPLAND LONGSPUR was observed on February 13 along Red-Shed Road near Fish
Hatchery Road (VG).

There were 2 RED-HEADED WOODPECKERS along Wagner's Lane on February 13 and 14
(BF, AL).

A MERLIN was observed at the Big Spring on February 14 (VG).

Up to 8 LAPLAND LONGSPURS were seen on February 14 and 15 among hundreds of
HORNED LARKS along Mud Level Road (AL, DB, JB, BK).

DAUPHIN COUNTY:
A HERMIT THRUSH was seen between February 15 and 17 eating bittersweet berries
in Dauphin Borough (DR).

JUNIATA COUNTY:
A dark morph ROUGH-LEGED HAWK was seen on February 13 along Hower Road in
Oakland Mills (CK, AT). RED-HEADED WOODPECKERS were also seen in Oakland Mills
on February 13 (JD).

The LINCOLN'S SPARROW continues to visit feeders though February 13 at the Lost
Creek Shoe Shop (CK, AT).

HUNTINGDON COUNTY:
One SNOW BUNTING was found in a flock of 100 HORNED LARKS south of Allensville
in the Big Valley on February 13 (GGr, DGr).

LANCASTER COUNTY:
A partial albino DARK-EYED JUNCO visited feeders in Churchtown on February 12
(FH, BH).

An adult LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL was seen on February 15 along the Susquehanna
River near Wrightsville (JH).

Eight BALD EAGLES were observed on February 15 sitting on the ice in the
Susquehanna River at Long Level (JH).

LEBANON COUNTY:
The SANDHILL CRANE continues to be seen through February 15 at Lake Duffy in
State Game Lands 145 (RM, SSR, DBi).

LUZERNE COUNTY:
Around a dozen PINE SISKINS have been visiting the Petroski's property this last
 week (DP).

LYCOMING COUNTY:
PINE SISKINS were seen on February 14 in Little Pine State Park (DF).

PERRY COUNTY:
A winter raptor survey run on February 13 in the northeastern portion of the
county located 4 BLACK VULTURES, 7 TURKEY VULTURES, 4 COOPER'S HAWKS, 31
RED-TAILED HAWKS and 4 AMERICAN KESTRELS along with 1 RED-HEADED WOODPECKER (DO,
 DG, GW).

SUSQUEHANNA COUNTY:
A flock of 30 SNOW BUNTINGS were observed on February 15 picking out grit on a
driveway near Hop Bottom (MY).
