Welcome to the Audubon Society of Rhode Island's bird alert for November 1,  
2008.  This report covers the period from October 26th to October  31st.   The 
next update will be November 8th.
 
A CACKLING GOOSE was reported on the 27th. feeding with a large flock of  
CANADA GEESE  at the Cottrell farm on Waites Corner Rd. in West  Kingston.
 
On the 30th, a DICKCISSEL was seen along Card's Pond Road in  Matunuck.
 
At Trustom Pond, 1 AMERICAN GOLDEN-PLOVER was observed on the 30th.
 
Avondale Farm In Westerly was host to the following birds this week: 1  
NORTHERN PARULA, 1 BLACK-THROATED GREEN WARBLER, 1 BLACKPOLL WARBLER, 1
NASHVILLE
WARBLER, 2 PALM WARBLERS, 5 EASTERN BLUEBIRDS and 7 PINE  SISKINS.  Also in 
Westerly, along ocean Road, 1 BROWN THRASHER was  reported.
 
At Napatree Point in Westerly, 1 BAIRD'S SANDPIPER, 4 WHITE-RUMPED  
SANDPIPERS, 1 PEREGRINE FALCON and 14 AMERICAN PIPITS were reported on the 27th,
  and
on the 31st, 8 BONAPARTE'S GULLS,  3 HORNED LARKS, 20 AMERICAN PIPITS  and 1 
BLACK-THROATED GREEN WARBLER were noted.
 
A WILSON'S SNIPE was observed in Newport at the Hazard Road salt  marsh.
 
At Sachuest Point NWR in Middletown, 20 HARLEQUIN DUCKS and 1 YELLOW-BILLED  
CUCKOO were located this week.
 
Finally, in Johnston this week, 1 YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKER and an EASTERN  
SCREECH-OWL were found on the 31st.
